HID Headlights??

That is true...I'm just curious about the difference in the installation...my lights could go for a little more light and I think 6000k with the 3000k fogs looks good.

hate to be the one who's a jerk about these here, but I can't stand those PNP HID kits! If your lights are bright blue and the person passing is holding their brights on till you pass, you might have just passed me. Or if the guy behind you is dimming his lights for oncoming traffic and then turns the brights back on again, it might be me. If the guy ahead of you is going 20 miles under the speed limit, or throwing all kinds of shit from the side of the road up at you, you might be following me. Say a word to me about it or F with me on the road and see what you get then. You are endangering me and my family.

You are putting others at risk with those darn things, and if I'm not mistaken, they are federally illegal in every state. If you vehicle didn't come with arcing lamps, it can't have them retrofitted legally because the DOT and NHTS is not and will likely never test them!

Yeah they are illegal and I'm not a fan either. Any hid i nonprojector housing is illegal. All states. However you can aim them low enough that you can still see and it's not bad for other drivers. It's not great but it's doable.

Which is why I'm considering the silverstars in my headlights instead of hids

Even aiming them down doesn't do anything for hilly terrain, factory HID's still blind people. Don't do it, it makes your vehicle look like some kid messed with it when you install them anyways.

This is incorrect, there are vehicles that came with factory HID's in reflector housings. Just so you know.

what vehicles?

side note, I got a ticket for hids in a halogen housing. took them out, then I retrofitted a projector later and the light output is 1000% better than the bs pnp hid kits.

Prove me wrong. I'd like to see them.

Acura RL, TL, Lexus IS300, buncha them imports from around ~2000 or so.

When put in proper housings, and aimed correctly they work great.... But yes, when incorrectly installed they can be a pain for other drivers.

I'm still a big advocate of them, seeing is safety and if you can't see whats ahead of you, you can't drive safely!

I could see just fine with the sealed beam headlights that cost $8 at walmart that my truck came stock with.... You don't need to see 10 miles in front of you..

I drive 80-100k a year, 75% or more night driving and in a lot of crap conditions in winter... I want to see as much as I can. Get out onto a wet surfaced asphalt (not concrete) and add some blowing snow, or rain and let me know how that works for ya...

I will refer you to this page... It brings up some extremely good points...

Also not every state made them illegal so don't complain... Alaska has no light laws so HID's are legal using driving lamps as fog lights is legal anything really. So over 50% of the cars up here have them.

In non projector housing HID's can still be very good non blinding lights. It just depends on the Quality of the Product (Phillips brand = Amazing lighting and minimal glare vs. Ebay kit = poor quality and no shielding with tons of glare which is probably 80% of the kits on the road today. ) Yo u ahve probably seen HID lights that you didn't even notice were HID's because they were good and you have also probably mistaken Halogens for HID's cause they are mis aimed or something as well.

I beg to differ... When its pitch black down icy and snow covered roads with 1 ton moose running around on the road you want to see as far ahead of you as you possibly can! Thats why i'm getting HID's and diamond cut housings and Adding to my 1000w 1,000,000+ candle powered Aux lighting.

I'm not saying more light is bad... I'm just saying you can see enough in front of you to drive with stock lights. Period.

No not always... driving my old 84 vs the 99 I have with the stock lighting only, and the 99 is much better I don't feel safe at all with lighting on the 84... I can't even drive it at night.

Just keep aimed as stock and you will be fine. I have had mine installed for the better part of 3 yrs with no problems.
