I recently purchased a 2004 Ranger and found this forum while searching for information so I decided to join.
This is the first Ranger I've owned, although I'm not exactly a stranger - my uncle had an '85 Ranger 4 cylinder with a manual transmission

In your signature, it says 2.5L I-4 -- I think that's a typo

There's lots of useful info here in the Tech Section and in the Articles and Resources Section, which is where I found the sales brochure for your Ranger and checked to see if a 2.5L was included in an '04 Ranger....

...and if you can't find something, just ask.
