Hi. Somebody else will give you a better answer. But I believe the answer is no. On these engines and transmissions, the bellhousing bolt patterns are different. I THINK most of the 4 cylinders are the same as each other. The 2.9l and 4.0l share a bolt pattern and the 3.0l is different all by itself. But don’t bet money on my answer.

Which V6? 3.0 is it's own animal for sure. Don't remember on the 2.9 / 4.0.

Welcome! To answer your first question, yes v6 and v8 swaps are common on these trucks. Unfortunately the answer to your second question is no. The 2.3 does not share a similar bell housing pattern with any of the v6 engines so you will need to either keep the 2.3 or get a v6 with the transmission.

The amount of work and money required to do a v6 swap is essentially the same as doing a 5.0 v8 swap so you may want to consider that option.
