My credo
If I can't fix it, it ain't broke.
Just signed up yesterday, and wanted to say Hi. I bought my 2011 short short in September, and so far I love it. Its stronger than I expected, even if it isn't quick. I'm old, so that doesn't matter to me. I don't have much background with small trucks, so I will probably have more questions than answers. Good to be here.

They all have their quirks but the little trucks are pretty robust.

Stay ahead of your maintenance... don't overheat the transmission... drive it respectfully and it will be around a long time.

There is a ton of information in the Tech Library and many folks here are willing to share we they know.

And ummmm... we like pictures. Lets see your relatively new to you Ranger.

Welcome from a fellow mainer.

Nice.....just put one of my back windows out.... Dog is pissed...snows all over him now.

Welcome to club Ford & TRS. There's no place like it, everyone here is willing to help you do whatever you need done ! All you need to do is ask.

Your gonna need a "Back Rack"... maybe even some overload springs.

I have to admit I was more than impressed with how well the little thing handled the weight. Not really interested in a lot of add-ons; it has the roll up tonneau and an aftermarket radio. AFAIK, it's completely stock. It doesn't even have cruise or power windows - less stuff to break down:beer:. After driving it in some snow the other day I have added 200# of ballast over the rear axle; just have to wait for the next snow to see if that helps.
Peace

Don't laugh...I was serious...

Looks like a two wheeler. Definitely 200 will help you go ... A set of chains and a winch will keep you going.

Nothing wrong with leaving well enough alone... the simplicity of the truck is certainly part of the attraction.

I just know my luck... I would end up with one of those logs in the cab. Could even be deadly in the right circumstances.

The weight in the bed for traction is priceless... it looks to be a clean truck.

The Gen 5's do seem to have some rust issues that are pretty common... front core support... bottoms of the doors... the floor in the bed. Might be worth a look around those areas. An once of prevention is worth a pound of cure.

Looks nice! Id put a headache rack on for sure if your going to regularly haul logs like that. Good tires and 200# of ballast should get you going most of the time. Dedicated winter tires are well worth the investment.
