Hi from NC

Hello group
I just joined the forum, and picked up my first Ranger, a 1993 model, short wheelbase, with a 3.0 V6 and 5 speed. As I was just going over it I noticed a connection that went up into the differential, could someone tell me what it could be for? I have never seen an electrical connection going into one before. I appreciate the forum, and hope I can add to it.

New here myself, also an NC'er. I believe that is the pickup for the VSS (speed sensor).
