We just brought a 1990 Ranger home with the 2.9 engine. It ran fine, but liking my engines clean {this one was dirty} I degreased and powerwashed.. well now the Ranger turns over fine, but no fire. I noticed it has the fender mounted coil and it has sweated some.. could this be the problem? I
WD-40'ed it but that didn't work. I have a strong coil spark so I am now thinking cap & rotor issue.. Anybody else have this problem.
I di contact the previous owner and he informed me that the truck doesn't start after it has rained :(. Help!!

Congrats! And welcome...

Apparently, you've got a leak or an open connection somewhere. Did you powerwash mainly the engine bay?

It could be the fender solenoid, but even then, you could jumpstart it and your starter should turn over. Have you opened the distributor and made sure all the contact points are clean and free of moisture?

How is the grounding and connections to your battery?

Welcome to TRS~!

I wasjhed my truck once and had a similar problem...but it should be dry by now and should start...if not, then your power wash may have knocked a wire loose...or a vac line is open and the engine drew in a bit of water (it doesn't combust as good as gas, eh)...

So you Canadians really DO say "eh?" Whoa...
