Are the cats that are advertised as hi-flo that much better than standard? I'm thinking in terms of the stock cat on my '94 2.3. I actually thought about posting this in the "4-banger" forum but thought it might fit better here. If they are better, which one or ones give the greatest flow?:dntknw:
Thanks,
Danny

i've oftened wondered this to..i don't have cats but kinda want to put some back on it- maybe it'll help with gas mileage. who knows....

ive read a bunch of threads on this and most seem to say that they don't really give you any more flow if you are looking to replace the cat get the single universal cats from jcwhitney for like 60 bucks i heard those are decent.

The thing with high flow cats is no stock engine in a ranger sees the rpms and horsepower to benefit frm a high flow cat just my q and a

Thanks guys!!!!!!!!! This is exactly the kind of info that I was lookin' for. I didn't realize that runnin' without a cat would hurt the MPG but I reckon if you increase the flow, it can hurt the MPG. Don't really want to do that. I get around 25 around town and 27-28 on the road. Anxious to hear what others have to say!:icon_thumby:

Yea if you actually have ever seen the inside of a catalytic converter there isnt much to cause restriction... Especially on our trucks...

dont mean to thread jack, but since we're on this subject.. is there anyone here that has these on there truck, if you do, do they make your exhaust noticeably louder?

I bought them because they were cheaper than stock. No real difference in performance. Can't say if they cahnge the exhaust note, since I went to a Flowmaster muffler, and it definitley changed the sound. Lovin it...
