Well I figured it was time to join. I've been lurking long enough. I'm Bill I have loved the Ranger since 1992 when I got my first one a 1983 Base model. Man, I beat that truck up and it never once gave me trouble. I kept it until 1995 when I had to get a mini van. Since then it was van, van, van, sedan all the while I wanted to get another Ranger. Last year after the blessing of having my car totaled by a kid running a stop sign. I went and found the deal of the century well maybe deal of that afternoon. 1997 XLT Styleside. Well I have put another 13K miles into it since and keeps running like a champ. It will become my daughter's truck soon as I am looking into what Ranger I will get for me.

I appreciate this site and the help I have gained from it.

Welcome to TRS Bill~!

Once you hand down your 97 to your daughter you might formulate what it is you want/need in your new Ranger. If you haul stuff, like to go fast, pick up chicks or hens, off-road, tow anything, or just like to be seen in a truck it will make you happier when you buy your truck based on these needs.

I bought my first Ranger to work on and learn...and that's what I really enjoyed about it at the time...my second was bought to fix the mistakes and oversights I made on the first one...lol

So....I guess you need to think about what you would like and go from there!
