Howdy yet again...

I know it's been a while and a LOT has happened since i was last on here.... i.e. I got married, had a kid, changed jobs...(which isn't makin me any money) and so on...

Anyway, I'm having a problem with my wifes car and I'm hoping someone can help me out....especially considering its related to a ford (mercury).

It's running really rough and it almost seems like its got a bad spark plug in it. Once and IF I can get it started all i smell is raw fuel coming from the exhaust. I actually broke down and had to use my AAA card to have it towed back home (of course there was quite a few involved). I haven't had a chance to look at it but the flatbed driver said it almost sounded like the motor was blown.... I don't think that's the case but I could use some insight if anyone has had an issue similar to this...

what's the car and what engine?

if you had trouble starting it and it smelled like fuel, sounds like a blown fuel pressure regulator or a bad injector. a sign for the bad fuel pressure regulator is to take off the vacuum hose to the regulator and see if there are signs of fuel as there shouldn't be... on a bad injector if it starts ok after sitting for several hours but won't start after a few minutes and sounds/smells flooded that's a possibility, but less likely than other possibilities.
