I own a 2000 Ranger with the 3 liter V6 and Auto Transmission....
My gas gauge has been malfunctioning.... It will have a quarter tank of fuel and register at over full when you start it... HOWEVER (and this is where it gets weird).... if you drive a block or so down the street, pull over and go through the start sequence again it will register at the proper fuel level...
It will stay on full on not recalibrate itself to the correct fuel lever until you shut the ignition system down and restart it.... So i dont have a clue as to whether it is the fuel sender, the anti slosh gizmo in the dash or the fuel gauge.... I hate wholesale replacement of all parts as it will cost hundreds DOES ANYBODY HAVE ANY SUGGESTIONS
I cant understand why the gas gauge would stay on full until you go through the start up sequence.... weird huh.... Tim
