What's up? My name is Kevin, and I live about 40 mins north of Minneapolis, Mn. I bought my first Ranger about 3 weeks ago, and have been working away my weekends on it trying to get it road worthy. It's a 1988 that started life as a 2.0l 4 cylinder with a 5 speed trans behind it. It currently has a full roller 302 with an Edelbrock 500 cfm carb, Edelbrock 289 Performer intake, Edelbrock Signature series valve covers, an RPM performer cam and what I assume is an AOD transmission.

It ran beautifully until yesterday when I took it on it's maiden voyage, and it broke down about a half mile from home. I'm pretty sure the fuel pump took a shit on me. I also noticed that the heater core seems to be leaking. I already have a replacement heater core, and I should have the fuel pump today.

I don't really have too much planned for the truck, I had originally thought of turning it into a corner carving street scalpel, but after seeing how much work it would take to make it handle well, I think I'll settle for just dropping it a few inches, and throwing some nice wheels and tires on it. I also plan on fixing up the interior with some nice carpet, a better steering wheel, and maybe some bucket seats with a custom center console.

Anywho, here's some pics of it as I got it

Any suggestions as to what this transmission may be?

Hey Kevin, Welcome! That a good looking body for Minn. I'd rather deal with mech problems than body work. I know there are quite a few right up your way and and a lot's of other's down in the V-8 swap section that would have a lot to add.

There is a little bit of rust on the box sides, but I'm an auto body guy/fabricator/painter by trade, so it'll be easy to take care of that stuff. I got the heater core swapped out this morning, but I still have to swap the fuel pump before I can burp the cooling system. I should be able to do that tomorrow morning before I go to work.
