…Boots echo on the floor as a shadowy figure steps out of the corner. Tension mounts as the forum occupants wait for the quiet form to finally speak…
“Hey…”
Back before the dawn of the internet age, a young man was awaiting his 18th birthday. Said young mans father was helping him out in his search for his first truck. One day fortune smiled upon our duo, and a blue gem was discovered in the form of a 1986 2.3L RWD supercab Ford Ranger. The boy-turned-man loved that gutless little truck. While it could hardly drive up a hill, it could carry a rolling party anywhere. He always swore that he would have another Ranger after that one.
A short time later, while the young man was fast asleep, a roommate of his took the truck out, and proceeded to leave it on its roof. Some time was spent afterwards in procuring a replacement cab, and grafting the roof and pillars onto said rolled truck. The little blue beast was brought to life again, and driven in that form right up until the very day that the same young man in question was forced to trade it for an 87’ olds cutlass supreme so he could bring his own newborn son home from the hospital…
He always swore that he would have another Ranger after that one…
Fast forward some 20-some-odd years later… the man had travelled some rough roads, but survived mostly intact…
Here he stood, 2nd house (better than the first), 2nd wife (infinitely better than the first), and a promising new job in the trade his father had personally schooled him in (master electrician), but still one thing left him feeling incomplete…
Then one day he found it, and he knew that his time had come.
Before him sat a specimen of vehicular beauty in the form of a White/gun metal grey 2008 FX4 4.0L supercab 4x4 Ford-f**kng-Ranger! The clouds parted and Odin smiled upon our weathered adventurer, for this was to be the one… A year and a half later, the only regret is that he had to settle for an automatic transmission…. That is, until he stumbled across The Ranger Station. Now visions of 5.0L powered, manually shifted, lifted suspension mayhem fill the thoughts of our stories hero…
… He always swore that he would have another Ranger…
I’ll be waiting in Dirtman’s basement for my hug…
