Hi,

I have a 97 2.3, 5 speed with 120,000 miles and I've been having this issue for about 3 weeks now. If I am going steady down the road it's fine, if I go from steady throttle to hard throttle for a pass the truck acts almost like it trys to down shift and it hesitates for about a second and then acts fine again. This hesitation only happens when I go from low to high throttle. If I let off the throttle and then punch it doesn't hesitate. The only thing added is a K&N drop in filter at 119,000 (Maybe the problem?:icon_confused:).

Thanks guys in advance!

K & N the MAF oiler system! Your MAF sensor may be getting coated with a thin film of filter oil, and responding more leisurely to your throttle changes. The 'hot film' or hot wire is insulated a little bit, and doesn't respond as fast to air flow changes, or may REPORT such changes more slowly.
Clean the MAF with an acceptable cleaner, and remove some of the oil from your K & N or replace it with a paper element.
