my 94 splash ran poorly for a couple of years, sluggish acceleration, rough idle and bad surge at cruise. It then started having intermittent but frequent no starts.Plugs would fire but either absolutely nothing or it would startand then die like it was out of gas.Hot,cold,no rhyme or reason.Minutes or hours later it would start and run like normal, with fuel pressure in the middle of spec.I removed the bed(6 t55 torx bolts and a harness plug-your back will thank you)and replaced the pump with a complete dropin assembly. As yet I havent been stranded and the truck runs much better. As a professional mechanic I thought electric pumps always failed stone dead but learned something new.

I've seen pumps that are intermittant a few times. It's a problem that can be very difficult to diagnose.
