does anyone know if a trans for a 89 ranger 4 lt auto would work in my 93? i have heard of a electronic version and mechanical version of this trans? any help would be much appreciated

The 4.0L was not offered in 89. It was introduced in 90/91. Any 89 RBV V6 would be a 2.9L engine. While that transmission might physically bolt to your 4.0, I highly doubt it would live long there. The 4.0 puts out more torque, so will kill a 2.9 tranny even faster than the 2.9. I'd try to find an actual 4.0 trans.

Lots of years are split. It maybe possible he has a 4.0 It could also have been a replacement engine/transmission.

In any case if it IS a 4.0 double check to be sure. Then the A4ld off of it should work with a 93 4.0

But if its a 2.9 the transmission off of it won't hold up in a 93's 4.0 It will work. but not for long.

if you did decide to use it any way you need to install the best transmission cooler you can find.

and be really nice to that accelerator pedal.
