Hey everyone. So today i went with a couple buddies out 4 byin for the day. Found some nice trails and hit some good holes. I got stuck a few times and got a bit of water in my cab. Anyway, on way home after and it ran a little funny. The idle was sort of up and down but nothing to bad. Then after parking it for an hour or so at home i go to leave and it fires up for a minute, then starts idleing up and down drastically and stalls. throttle is not responsive and kills the motor faster. It starts but does the same everytime and stalls. What do you guys think is wrong?
Thanks, any ideas appreciated.
Sean

you the water cover your headlights or get into the electronics under the dash?

No i never submersed the thing, and i dont think any electronics under the dash got wet just maybe sterio wiring.

your 89 ranger draws its air from behind the pass. side headlight, chec the air box for water, you might have gotten water into the engine, not enough to hydrolock it but enough to make it run like crap...... or you got the engine electronics wet, in which case they will dry out.

Ok so if i did suck some water in the engine to cause this what should i do, pull the plugs and let it dry out?? And if the electronics got wet should i pull off the distributer cap to check that?? Anything else i can do? thanks

yep. any time wheeling in water you got to go through all that stuff. check the diffs for water as well.

if that doesn't work, we can remove that from the trouble shooting process. does your check engine light come on?

I pulled the plugs, cap cleaned it change my airfilter and it runs again thatnks for the help.
