I have an 89 ranger.Single cab. It's got a 2.3 L distributorless motor and a manual trans.I have a 3.8 motor I pulled from my wrecked mustang. Will the 3.8 be an easy swap? And will my stock trans mate up to it no problem?I need all the help I can get. This 2.3 is pushing 450,000 and I need to do something quick.Help!

How do I distinguish between transmissions?I think the one I have in my truck now, according to this site is a mazda M50D-R1.I'm not super educated in the ways of transmissions.Where can I find a c5?And how do I determine that a transmission is in fact a c5?Thanks

According the link Wicked posted, C5s came in 84 Rangers, so you could look there, or you could also use a C4 since the only difference is the lock-up converter the C5 had.

C4s came in a lot of older Ford cars with smaller V8s.

the C5 trans was the only auto trans used in the early ('83-'84) 4x4 rangers.

yours is indeed an M5OD.
