Having problems... and desparately need help. I have a 1996 Ford Ranger and I have a leaking clutch slave cylinder that I am in the process of replacing. I just can't get the bolt out of my shifting lever and the Haynes manual doesn't tell me how to remove it. It had a nut on one side that I tried tightening/loosening to pull the bolt out of the lever to transmission so I can drop the tranny. I have tapped on the bolt to loosen..no go. I realize it has a type of spacer that actually fits into the coupling of the tranny. What do I need to do before I go to the "bang the devil" out of it!?????Please help.

If I remember the drill correctly from doing my '94 . . . . Loosen the nut; leave it threaded onto the end of the bolt. Then tap the nut/bolt back out with a hammer. The nut keeps the threads from getting boogered up.
