i pulled my transmission pan off my 89 mustang automatic ,!i believe it has the al4d or AOD tranny that is in the ranger automatics and i have an extra little part sitting in the pan when i pull it off that looks like a short lolly pop. its made of plastic and almost 2 inches long. Has about a 1 inch stick with a mushroom looking head on it and a small black looking ring around it.

Anyone know what i'm talking about and where this thing belongs? Sorry for the mustang question but this forum just seems much more helpful!

thanks,

mark

We call that the cherry..those are put in the holes where the dipstick tube is during car assembly and when the dipstick tube is put in it knocks that plug out into the pan, which also means that tranny has never been serviced.

thanks, that was good news! man, i love this forum for crap like this! thanks again
