Where are you located? I'm in NW GA also looking and there are tons of them in the under $2500range (what I'm looking for).

I lived in Oakland and Dublin, so have some familiarity, but it is dated. Were I looking, I would look at the Concord, Antioch, Pittsburg area, and up further towards Sacramento.
Inside the Bay Area, San Leandro and a bit further south seemed good sources. Livermore would be another area I'd look.
If you go over the pass to the inland valley, there are more farmers and they hold onto their trucks until you can see the road through the floor while driving.
There was a weekly called "Auto Trader" that I used to get and look through. Many pictures and covered the bay... Have not looked at one in 20 years, though.
Various Craigslist sites would be the prime source I'd look into.
