I just rebuilt my 1988 BII 2.9 5spd; but cant get the darn thing to fire. Ive brougth the #1piston to TDC on the comp. stroke, but cant get the distributor to fire in order. any takers on my situation. Thanks

Mahy times the engine builder THINKS the poston is at TDC, when it is actually on the exhaust stroke. Try moving the wires 180* around the dist one time and see if you were incorrect your judgement. It has worked for many others before you.

You sure that its a timing/ spark issue? How indepth was your rebuild? If you wired the injectors wrong, she will do the very same thing. Hell I messed up on one wire and she only got fuel to 3 cylinders once. It could be a great many things.

Make sure your timing is at least in the ballpark....That was one of my issues when mine wouldn't fire. It was 180 out. Also, clean any grounds you can find especially in the proximity to the battery and make sure your battery is fully charged. That was another issue for me. Good Luck and keep us informed.

I'm not positive, but I don't believe moving the wires 180* out will make it fire, as the pickup wheel for the fuel injection (and spark) will still be 180* out.

Do you have power at the coil and the dizzy disconnect the spout jumper to take the computer of of the loop. you can take the coil wire off the dizzy and stick a plug in it and set it on a good ground and see if you got spark. Disconnect the battery and slow charge it overnite 2 amp to get a full charge it is best to charge it disconnected or even out of the truck. The tech library under TFI diagnostics will show you what to do here is the link. http://www.therangerstation.com/tech_library/TFI_Diagnostic.html

I took the rebuild all the way to the block and had every part cleaned and machined. I placked all components in the correct place and order along with torque specifications. I have fire to the distributor and fuel to the injectors and have the correct firing order and am on the compression stroke at TDC. I have removed the spout for timing and have all wires connected, but am puzzled as how I still have no ingnition.
