Trying to fire up the camper, eliminated the smog crap and trying to stream out the wiring mess and wire this distributor as an old school wiring system. How do I wire in a tfi one ? Is it possible to do to bypass uneeded crap and must use this distributor? I still have the ecc wired into the harness and hoping to just let the wires do their thing. What wires do I need to jump/rewire to get it running.? Thanks

But on the bright side, I do have a 2.8 distributor non tfi if I need to go the other route.... which I am sure would be the best route. Cheers

I am a bit lost on this .... can anyone tell me what wires to put where in this set up? and yes using the 3 bottom wires on the tfi dis. thanks. there has to be an old school guy left in here who has done this in the past. Cheers I have the box wired for main ground and positive (key on) power. the ignition box that i had sitting around is an old GP MagnaSonic Electronic Ignition. i dont need the plugs as I will make my own connections.

found these two diagrams, but can't fully make the connection, if some one has a better diagram please post.

hi bobby, on the TFI dizz i chopped the top 3 wires. the bottom 3 are ground. and then 2 more. one is white and the other is green. the connector on the coil that is sitting there are the 2 wires that are coming from the dizzy. 4 wires are on the ignition box. one is black i am guessing for ground, that leaves 3.... what do i splice what wire into ? i have hot from key on ignition, and the crank wire located from the (key) ... any help will be followed. thanks ... i just don't want to fry something here. cheers

you are using tfi dizzy to work with the box? i was under the impression it was different vac dizzy for some reason.

the white should be tach..... green i dont know. blue or blue/white is usually spout and and yellow is pip. the tfi plug is pip, spout, crank power, run power, tach out.....or signal and ground.

so chopping the bottom 3 and calling them ground i dont follow.

the carb tfi should be all the same cut on the pip, so i would think power in and the tach to the signal in on the ignition box is what you want out of it.

so run power and ground with the tach to the box.

hi, yes i cut and not using the top 3 wires on dis. the very bottom wire is black and ground. it is the 5th and 4th from the bottom 2 wires i am lost to where to go. i am using a stripped down carb. no pollution or electronics on it. yes i have a positive and ground to the ignition separate from the (4 wire) plug. yes placing in the ignition box to run the dis.... then going to try locking the dis at 25 degree advance to run. from what i read it can be done. so i want o try this before replacing dis with an older 1977 i have. cheers

ahhh. its a different signal style with the tfi dizzy, the duraspark dizzy is a analog setup.

it could be possible depending on the setup.

maybe i dont need to ignition box? and just run the wires from the coil? that just doesnt make sense to me so i am guessing the ignition box needs to be wired in?
