i have a friend that has a '94 2wd regular cab ranger that the frame is beyond hope, but the cab and bed are worth saving and running on the road.
my question is how new of a frame could we slide under his body and have no welding or fab work? I'd like to find one of the newer torsion bar front ends so we could just crank his bars for a little added height, will a newer frame work?

you, in theory, could use any frame, from any year, ever.

that said, since you're changing the frame anyway, why not go with a 4x4 frame and suspension so you can get added height from that, instead of cranking the bars.

heptofite, i agree with your theory, but this truck will be driven by a 19 year old who just got his license and is a firefighter so I'm guessing he's gonna crash at least twice before winter. so why go to all that work till he gets some driving experience?

frame pics, I wanna see if its worse than mine, if not, I might donate mine to the "Wonderful World of Corrosion"

well kip to tell you that this frame is broke behind the front left rear spring mount and the tranny cross-member is being held up right now by a piece of firewood i'd say it's worse than yours, and that's not including the sever rust that you can put a screwdriver through when scraping.. i'll post pics if i can when we pull the body off

my rear bumper broke off from me stepping on it, and the front bumper is barely on it, the only solid part is under the engine were a minor oil leak has kept the frame from rusting, haha.

The frame under the bed is about ready to give way, and the leaf mounts are about ready to crack.
