Hey I have a 1998 ford ranger xlt with 4WD. I have the V6 3.0. I also have a three inch body lift on it. I don't think that the gears were compensated for the body lift. I can only go about 40-50 uphill on the highway. Can i do this or should i bring it to a local shop...if so how much would that cost?

Tires are what effect your gearing, not lift. How big are your tires? What transmission do you have? If you have to ask if you can install gears you should have a shop do it. Don't affraid to downshift either, it wont hurt your engine to run over 4K at 60 MPH up hills.
