Hello everyone i have just today got my 2007 Ford Ranger XLT 5spd manual and i took it out into the bush to test out the 4 wheel drive system.

Now i know that it's suposed to be "Shift on the fly" but it takes a second to get into 4 hi and if i want to put it into 4 low i seems like i have to stop for a second and kinda backup almost b4 it goes into gear otherwise it works fine.

Is there somthing i am doing wrong any suggestions woudl be great the truck did not come with a manual so i don't know if I have to do anything b4 i turn the switch for 4 wheel drive or not Pls Help me out so i can go out again soon thanks

To get your truck into 4 low, hold the brake down and clutch in. The truck is fine shifting to 4wd while moving, but i wouldnt try for 4 low on the fly. Or at least thats what the manual on my 02' says :D

hey thanks i tried that today and all seems good i think that it has a sensor so that it will not go into 4low while on the move so i think that all is good

Not sure if it's still true on your '07 but everything I've heard about 4Lo is to have the truck in neutral with the brake in and the truck stopped before shifting into 4Lo. You can shift into 4Hi while moving but not at a very high RPM. Rolling while idling or just giving it a little gas is ok though.

X2

in neutral for an auto or clutch in for a manual. Shift on the fly into 4hi at up to about 80kms/hr...
