I bought an 8.8 rear end from a Ford Explorer. I used my 7.5 to take measurements for placing the leaf spring pads and shock mounts on the 8.8, but I think I made a mistake. The leaf pad mounts are not lining up.

Can anyone help me with the proper measurements??

Thanks!

You swapping the axle into a Ranger? I don't believe the Ex leaf perches need to be moved widthwise, you simply have to put them directly above where they were originally located.

I can take some measurements off mine, although mine's in a BII, which is a bit wider on the spring spacing.

thats right, i put one in my ranger, and you just need to put the perches on top.

heres a pic from the tech library that shows the measurements on the 7.5:

it should be noted that the diff is not exactly centered, and the two diffs have different widths. that explorer axle is also wider than your 7.5 overall.

i just measured my ex. 8.8.. and from where the tube meets the diff housing, to the edge of the 3" spring perch:
drivers side: 11.5"
pass. side: 8"

that should get u centered, good luck.

also this whole tech article might help you, if you ahvent already seen it:

Thanks so much for being so quick! I will move them and let you guys know!:yahoo:

the explorer and ranger pads are in the same spots, all you have to do on the explorer is weld the pads on top of the axle,
