Help with laptop computer virus

Yeah I know it wasn't a smart move, but oh well. I was tired of working on the dumb thing.

And Allan, are you talking about the computer? If so, I'm not sure. I got it free when I was a freshmen at college. They gave them out for being the first freshmen class they ever admitted (used to be a graduate only school).

Im back up and running..........so far so good.
Ran restore from a couple of days back.
Running malware to see if its still there.
This sucks!!!

Be careful because I did that once and it didn't get rid of it it just hid for a while and then came back stronger than ever. Just make sure you scan it with a good spy ware mal ware virus scanner.

are you seriously telling me you have a laptop computer and you don't even know what brand it is?

I said in my first post it's a Gateway...I don't know the specific model of Gateway. Easy there, slingblade.

One thing to know about executables and Winderz, usually if a malware is blocking a malwarefix program from launching, ie.. says it's an infected .exe file. You can change the extension of the malwarefix program to .msi and winderz will still execute it.
