Help with laptop computer virus

I did everything the website told me to do and it directed me to spyware doctor..........and they want $29.95 to remove it!
Ran maleware and it cant find anything now Im running AVG in safe mode to see if it will pick it up.

which bug exactly do you have? There may be other things that need to be done. The first is to stop the "service" that the bug is running, once you shut that down, you can start whittling down the problem.

We've spent the last week at work fixing the "McAfee" debacle. What a Charley Foxtrot... We only have something like 5,000 desktops in our district.

gonna let avg finish and see what happens.
Thanks for the link!I will try it next.

Well, whatever bug is on here seems to block any program that has .exe on the end. I went to start>control panel>programs>default programs to check if any .exe files were in there, which there isn't. I downloaded the malwarebytes program, but I can't open it because it's a .exe file. So that's where I'm stumped.

You need to download a program called rkill run it till it executes and stops the process that is blocking programs from running. then install and run malewarebytes.
link to rkill

the superantispyware portable is a com file and should run. The bug may stop it so you may have to click the files several times but it will run

Try THIShttp://www.myantispyware.com/2010/01/30/how-to-remove-antivirus-soft-uninstall-instructions/. I just scanned over the process, but it looks legit.

BTW, I don't imply or express any guarantee that this will fix your problem, if you take my advice or the advice of the people at that link, you do so at your own risk.

That is exactly word for word what my computer is doing. It has Antispyware Soft on the bottom right on the little bar thing and I get a popup that says the exact same message : "application cannot be executed. The file ___.exe is infected. Do you want to active your antivirus software now?"

I downloaded that iexplore, HighJackThis program and I searched through the files. I didn't find a file that had the 04 on the left and .exe on the right though. So I'm stumped again.

Ok I ran hijack again and I just started deleting crap with an 04 on the left and .exe on the right. I ran malwarebytes again and that is running now. So we've at least got that going.

EDIT - there was a system to my deleting rampage. Things that seemed important (Back-ups and whatnot) stayed. I only deleted the files that had random letters.

Not a smart thing to do if you don't know what it is.:shok:

It worked! It worked!:yahoo:

The only infected object found from the malwarebyte program was the AV Soft, and it got deleted. So no more popups and crap. I really appreciate everyone's imput, just saved me a few dollars (was going to take it into a shop or just get a whole new laptop - - this one is getting a bit old anyways). But really, I thank you all big time. :icon_thumby:
