Hello everyone,

I am having a problem with my emergency gas shut off valve (I think). The switch is in the passenger side compartment near the floor. Sometimes it shuts off once a month. My wife is on a trip and it seems to shut off about 3 times per 10 hour period.

My question: is it the the shut off valve or the fuel pump?

the switch on the rangers no matter the year is always a lil bit....funky, usually its a simple process to rebuild them or just goto ford and replace them, im not sure how critical they are on newer trucks but on older era trucks i always bypass them because of there issues

Appreciate the help. Any idea how much a switch may cost?

If your ranger was born before November 2005, you can just get the switch $(27.55 at the local dealership). If it was after Nov, you have to buy the conversion kit witch includes a new bracket, wires and retrofitted switch. That runs $95.10 at the dealership. I recommend going OEM when it comes to these things. The part # for the switch alone is 6L5Z9341A, the # for the kit is 7L5Z9341AB. Good luck bud.:icon_thumby:

That's exactly what I needed to know. Many thanks.
