Ok i just bought a 91 ranger 5 speed 4.0 not to long ago the transmission was grinding in 1st and reverse i have now replaced slave, master, flywheel and bled the system the way everyone says to... the guy that owned the truck before me had replaced the clutch recently and it still grinds in 1st and reverse and now the grinding noise is getting worse and is starting to grind a little in 2nd anyone have any ideas on what else the problem could be? Thanks

start the truck in gear and hold the clutch to the floor. put it in neutral and wait a few seconds then try to put it in reverse. if it grinds then the clutch is not bled all the way.

it can be a complete nightmare, if you remove the clutch line from the transmission and can push the pedal down at all you have air in the line/master

i found out the problem the firewall was cracked and the master was moving to much into the firewall and not releasing the clutch
