Help with Check Engine Light

I have a 98 Ranger with 4.0L and the emissions guy said the check engine light is not working. I don't see a light called check engine when I turn on the key. I can't see it when I hold a flashlight up to the panel either. Can someone tell me where the check engine light is on the dash. My instrument panel has a tach also.

In your cluster w/tach, it is to the left of the "C" on the coolant temp gauge. There is a diagram showing the location in your owner's manual. If you don't have one, you can look it up online: http://www.genuineservice.com/genuineservice/en/default?page=Home
