ok my truck seems a little sluggish and i realized my choke was not opening truck runs fine with choke on like I said it just seemed like it could have a little more power when I hooked power to choke and got it to open now truck runs like crap if I try and accelarate to fast it stumbles and pops a little thru carb anyone have any ideas

Did you hook it up so that the choke gets power immediately? If so the choke may be opening up too soon and not letting the engine properly warm up.

Also if/when you took the air cleaner off did you reconnect the heat vent? (that tube that runs from the exhaust manifold to the intake tube?)

the truck was already warm when I hooked up 12 volt to choke and yeah I reconnected the heat vent could it be mixture screws

Yeah sounds like it was adjusted properly for having the choke partially on, some mechanic or previous owner or something more then likely adjusted it when it was warm without thinking that the choke may not be fully opened.

I would warm it back up and let the choke open all the way up and then adjust.

Try turning your idle screws out 3 turns each and see if it smooths out some. Once you get it running disconnect the wires going to the idle speed motor and turn the idle screws out for the highest rpm then back till it starts to lower the rpm find the highest lean position then check the turns in and back out they should be within 1/2 turn between them. Plug the idle motor back in and it should idle right down.
