i posted this here so i can get more people to se it and help sooner. my dad wont be happy if he finds out im getting like 11 mpg highway. 235 75 15. 3.93 posi rear( i think. does that sound right?) that and im not used to driving stick yet

i found a plug in the far back pass side next to air filter. its the brownish-tan plug with 3 wires going to it, a red one, a yellow w/ green stripe and a black with yellow stripe. does anyone know what its for?

i have a small tick(every 2 seconds). i think its an injector.

also im running rich(getting 200 miles to a full tank:icon_confused:) could someone help me with that too. i got a o2 sonsor but i need to heat it up to get it out. im going to reroute the orange ground wire soon but i dont think thats the problem. maybe battery wires?

it has a recent tuneup, seafoam, gas treatment(lucas and gumout) oil change(need to rechange it again) new purolator air filter. could use a radiator flush but thats besides the point

the sooner yoiu help the sooner ill stop complaining

i would guess o2 sensor but thats just me .. all 2.9's have the ticking ..

Get the special socket, it adds leverage and makes the job a LOT easier with a 1/2 in ratchet.

whats the special socket? and my friend said run the truck without the o2 sensor connected and check engine light will come on. well it didnt

how long have you been running it with the o2 sensor unplugged? not having the data from the sensor will make your engine run rich and possibly cause it to display your symptoms (except your ticking, thats "normal").

Can you get a pic of the plug?

Take a long extension, put one end against your ear and the other on each the injectors. Should help isolate where the noise is coming from. A lot of 2.9Ls tick over time, mine only really ticked once I cracked a head and kept driving it with coolant in the oil and my oil pressure dropped due to the coolant trashing the bearings. I ended up rebuilding the engine with new heads - it only had 98K at the time.

I'd be real tempted to pull codes before starting to replace stuff. One being that it's free :), and it might have some info that will help diagnose what is going on.

Like they said, try to get any codes it may have. Get the O2 sensor changed and make sure to unhook the battery to clear out the computer. If it still runs rich then check the fuel pressure. My FPR was bad and didn't leak fuel into the vacume line and it it didn't mess up all the time. I spent $62 on getting it diagnosed and they found nothing wrong but then the FPR worked fine when they checked it. After replacing the FPR mine still ran rich :( I had a friend check it out who does mobil diagnostics look at it and he found a bad ground wire in the bunch of plug-ins on the drivers side wheel well and also the EVAP solenoid had been removed and a line ran directly from the EVAP cannister to the throttle body so anytime I gave it gas it was sucking fumes and probably raw fuel from the cannister. If you need a FPR rockauto.com has one for $28+shipping,the parts stores are $60+.

First off....what size tank do you have? I'm assuming you have the 14 gallon front tank, so 200 miles/tank = 14.28mpg if you run it completely dry. Secondly, you have larger tires so that is going to throw your odometer off so your 200 miles/tank is not even accurate.

well, i need to undo the battery to reset the computer still. and i never got to do the timing
