Hey guys. So I haven't really used 4x4 much, but when I did give it a test, the switch would put it in 4x4 high and the light would come on, but when I switched it to 4x4 low, it didn't click or even put on the 4x4 low light. I'm just wondering if my truck even has the ability to do low range. It's just and XLT 4.0 SOHC and 5r55 auto. Thanks for any help!

Has to be in neutral holding the brake to switch from high to low same procedure to get out of low

Ah! Thank you!

You have to be completely stopped, shift transmission to neutral, keep your foot on the brake, engage 4WD high range, wait for it to engage, then you can engage 4Low. If I recall it won't go into 4Lo until you have engaged 4WD High range. To get back out of 4Low you have to stop, shift to neutral, keep foot on brake, shift back into 4hi, then back to 2WD if you are through using the 4WD. Otherwise you would just shift back to 4Hi and then continue driving.

If its still not working, you may have a shift motor issue.
