Help with 2000 Ranger Transmission

Just wondering if anyone knows about the shift sensors?

what do you mean by shift sensors? there are pressure control solenoids, shift solenoids, TCC solenoid. It's controlled by the PCM via inputs such as the TPS, ECT, MAF, Speed. ETC ETC. what are you asking?

well then you also have the TSS, OSS and VSS as inputs to the PCM as well as RPM, Alot of variables for just wanting to know if anyone knows about "shift sensors"

I was talking the shift solenoid, i had a tranny shop tell me that shift sensor/solenoid B was bad. I can get the part from ford for 69 dollars or they will fix it for 250. its inside the fluid pan I have seen the solenoids, but don't know which one is B.

Ok, well first of all, I worked for ford for the last 7 years. These transmissions are known for valvebody seperator plate gaskets blowing apart. As far as SSB goes all the shift solenoids have a common color amongst them, but you are looking for the one with the violet/orange wire at the connector. this will be SSB.

Thanks man, you just saved me a lot of money! So if I call Ford and tell them that I need a SSB/Shift Solenoid B it will come with the violet/orange wires, correct

Am I allowed to link to another ranger website? I went through a full thing involving testing, disassembly and such that would probably be helpful.

First of all, all the shift solenoids are the same in the transmission, so you just need a shift solenoid. The connector at the solenoid will have the violet/orange wire, the solenoid will just have 2 spade terminals that the connector slides onto, so you just look for the connector that has the proper colors and thats your solenoid.

well I put the new SSB sensor on, and it seems to be shifting fine now thanks for all the info
