*HELP* winding up and down

i have a sound while accelerating in first gear. it sounds like something winding up, and while coming to a stop it sounds like its winding down. also have a severe shake while accelerating. any help would be great.

What transmission? I assume it's a 5 spd.

How are your motor mounts?.... have a sound while accelerating in first gear. it sounds like something winding up, and while coming to a stop it sounds like its winding down......Man .the only thing that first comes to mind is the alternator....The far [/I]fetched second thing could be a grounding issue....in the wiring harness or ..elsewhere......
