Hi Guys

Ok, I have a 1988 Ford Ranger, 2.3Litre Fuel Inj, I have gone through everything such as: Replaced fuel filter, checked Inertia switch, injectors, Pumps and it still won't start. I have plenty of spark, new distributor, cap, rotor, plugs, wires, and still won't start.

It turns over fine and I even disconnected the return fuel line in desperation to see if fuel was actually getting through, and every time I turned the key fuel pumped into the container. What am I missing?

This all started when I was just leaving work one day and only got about 3 blocks when It just stalled and wouldnt start since.

This is my only vehicle to and from work. HEELLLP!:temper:

Does it just crank or does it fire. Just because fuel makes ti to the return doesn't mean it's getting through the injector. You have TBI ? Is the exhaust clear?,visually check to see it fuel is getting through. Is the exhaust clear? Can't think of much else except(horrors)compression.

Does it run if you spray some carb cleaner or starting fluid down the intake? Try it.

On mine i've got a check valve on the fuel rail, try letting the fuel pump prime, and if you've got the right gauges check the pressure at the rail. if you dont have anything to check it with just see if it'll spray some fuel out, so at least you know you've got fuel up there. If you've got
fuel and fire, maybe no air? maybe you've got something in the air box or something blocking it off, sounds stupid but worth a try.

Ditto on the timing belt. Common problem with higher mileage engines. It can either break or jump teeth. Watch the camshaft gear from the back of the timing cover. Turn the engine over and you should see the gear turning. If it turns, the belt isn't broken, but still may have jumped teeth.

Another common problem is the failure of the TFI module on the distributor. make double sure you have spark at the sparkplugs.:)shady
