Help Starting

are you sure it is fuel and not water did you put a timing light on the #1 plug wire and crank on it to see if you can see the timing mark with the spout unplugged

spout?
I haven't a clue where my timing light is...I'll go find that.

What would be the issue with water? I let it drain too much so it drank the water from the tank? How would I solve this if it ends up being the issue?

Spark quality looks good. Powerful and blue.

I read back and you said it ran out of fuel how much is in the tank can you disconnect the fuel line somewhere and jump the test connector to make the fuel pump flush it out I dont know never had to do it but we are running out of options

I didn't mess with timing or plug wires at all.
I had the truck idling for about 20 minutes to set one of those cheesy exhaust wraps around a small hole. The heat is supposed to make it harden. In the process of doing that it just died. I knew the fuel was REALLY low so assumed that was it. Got fresh gas poured in and it hasn't fired since...
It's been a very reliable truck, just got back from an 11 hour drive from texas. Ran like a champ.

coolant level?

Coolant is good. Was just topped off before that Texas trip. All this most recent work has been on the cement and there is not a drop of anything leaking. All fluid levels check out.

What confuses me is why wouldn't it at least fire from the starting fluid? I figured if it was a fuel problem then it would burn off the ether but then stop...was confused when even that didn't fire off.

yeah, that's odd. I'm wondering if they aren't being flooded out. Too much fuel and so they aren't able to fire off in the cylinder.

maybe it just got a shot of water and needs to purge it thru all the evidence points to fuel or lack of have you tried starting fluid if it fires keep doing it till it runs on its own also have you checked the fuel filter and I cant remember the name of the little tank on the fuel line line that keeps it from pumping air into the injectors but drain it out if needed

Is your fuel pump weak or worn out?

My 88' ran out of gas and I found that it takes forever for the new gas to reach the regulator. It would turn over and over and nothing would make it fire. I just cycled the key on and off for about an hour and continuous intervals of cranking over and it eventually fired. Was the only time the truck ever let me down.

pull the plugs and crank on it with the fuel relay unplugged to dry the cylinders out then try the starter fluid I`m just reaching here

Try and light the plugs with a lighter when you pull one out and see if it burns

worse thing is if the plugs are wet and that stuff turns out to be coolent from a leaking head. take all the plugs out, mabey blow some compressed air to dry it. are the valves for intake/exhaust working? mabey something broke. hard to tell from what ur telling me, i heard that the ignition works and makes spark, the motor spins, but wont start on either starting fluid or its own gas, by any chance could the fuel system suck up sediments in the bottom of the tank when it ran out?

That sounds logical until you think about the fact that the gas tank is the newest thing on the truck. Replaced only 6 months ago. Not much sediment in there I wouldn't imagine. *shrug*
