So here's the back story. I purchased a 94 XLT ranger for a run about truck. when i bought it, it seemed to be down on power, but i'm a fairly mechanical guy, i figured i could tune her back into shape. WRONG. i still cant figure out why its so damn slow(we're talking struggling to do over 60mph without a tail wind or hill). It will idle and drive slowly under 50% throttle like nobodys business, but anything after 50% makes no change to the accel rate. Keep in mind that the truck does not spit/sputter or cutout, its very smooth, just low on power.

Here are the places i have checked.

Compression: +120psi across the board
Fuel: New pump, filter, pressure regulator
Ignition: plugs, wires, tried disconnecting each coil pack and listening for a difference
Intake: new air filter, disconnected MAF to set ECU into base mode, (just idled like crap, no other change)

If you have any ideas please let me know!

Crankshaft position sensor could be going out. Also check the egr.

Did you check the throttle cable for slack in the pedal? Common issue...easy fix...
