I own a 1990 Ranger XLT, and I'm planning a 302 swap. I will be stopping in for advice, help, and information until I get it all done.

BTW, does anyone know where I can find a Ranger 8.8" rear axle and a Dana 30 or 44 front axle out of a Jeep?

How about a 302 install kit for the engine mounts?

Oh, and a Mazda M5R2 5-speed transmission with a B-W 1356 T-Case?

At some point, I'm also going to need a bigger radiator, but that's all going to have to wait for the time being...no money right now.

Anyway, hope you guys (and gals?) can help me out, unlike the last Ranger forum I was on where they treated me like I should already know everything.

We'll do it here too if you post this in the 2.9 forum..

Check out the ranger station tech library. It has answers to everything. Anything else can be found if you search too.

Welcome to the forums btw. Plenty of good info here.

Cooling would be my first or foremost concern. The ranger rear might not be the best way to go either; Explorer rears are the same size, but I believe have better axles. If you're attempting a swap, you better have nothing but money and time. Anyone who I've ever known to do swaps ends up spending twice as much as they thought they would (along with a whole lot of time invested). A lot of guys end up abandoning their projects. I'm not trying to discourage you, but just be realistic about how much time it's going to take and how much money is involved to build a trail rig. You might be better off starting with something a little more "ready" like a Jeep with a very decent motor already and solid front end. It would be about 1/3 the trouble as getting the ranger to the same point.
