today, i changed my oil and i did not like the mess of wiring under hood from the e-fans. I would show yall a picture of the wiring schematic i use as reference but basically i have a flex-a-lite fan with thermostat wired to a relay. from the relay control side i have a wire running from switch inside the cab (i use this for the a/c) thru the relay to the battery. fan side i have it wired to the fan and grounds out on part of the chassis. This is wayyyyy over simplified. what i want is a way for my fans to turn on when my a/c is turned on and when the thermostat tells it too. i also want a fail-safe just in case something happens and messes up all controls so i can manually turn it on via a switch in the cab. How can i do this? Any ideas
thanks

I would wire the relay to the thermostat, then the other side of the thermostat to the fan, with the other fan connection to ground. The other relay contact to 12v. Control the relay as you describe, with the AC switch. Connect a switch to the thermostat-fan connection to supply 12v (preferably through a fuse) when you want to manually override it.

Ive done exactly what your talking about. Shoot me an email and ill gladly help you through all this. You'll need 2 relays, 1 single pole, one dual pole. a adjustable temp sensor, all the wire and connections, and a switch.

its a very easy setup, that will run by itself without any need to turn it on with the AC. No special skills needed, and it will take only a few hours. running the wire takes the longest

This spring im relocating my wiring away from water and moisture.

email is: Clrke_n@live.com. I can send pictures as well.

I wonder why you would want the thermostat feature only when the AC is on. Would it not make sense to have the thermostat turn on the fan no matter what the overheating cause? Then you would only need a switch to bypass the thermostat when you wanted to.
