help please

well im working on my 4.0 swapped ranger and i hooked up the battery and when i connect it the power box in engine bay clicks but if i stop moving the terminal on battery it stops whats going on i still dont have any power in the truck what am i doing wrong?

lightly sand your battery posts and cable ends and see if that works and get the clamps tight where you cant turn them by hand if that is what your talking about your kinna sparce on the details.

alrgiht i did that it still clicks kinda like an electrical short also my check engine light stays on all the time when my battery connected and my gauges are all pegs to right

Is your battery fully charged the check engine light stays on until the engine starts. You say it clicks do you mean when you go to start it. Do the head lights work and all the accessories.

the 4.0 is ready to start but i have all wires connected battery fully charged and nothin works ecept gauges
