89 ranger 2.9 5 speed... Driving along today and all of the sudden a loud knocking noise starts coming from the dash sounds like it's behind the instrument panel.. It's sounds kinda like someone is literally knowing inside my dash... I pulled over to check under the hood but nothing seems to be loose or outta place.. Removed the dash bezel and pulled out the instrument panel as far as I could to take a look behind but I see nothing behind it that would make such a loud noise.. Suppose to have the truck sold and need to figure this out.. Only does it when I get up to about 55-65 mph... Nothing at idle nothing when starting off... HELP PLEASE!https://vimeo.com/155955736

almost sounds like a blend door or something like that

How do I go about fixing it? It doesn't it with nothing running.. No hear or ac..

Have you checked to make sure nothing is caught in a drive axle? I would check near the firewall for any scrape marks that may tell you what has happened probably without the engine on

Check your body mounts. When my body mounts at the core support were shot I could have sworn there was a huge chunk of metal slapping the floorboard at my feet for all the noise it made.

Been driving it a lot today and it's not making the noise so idk what's up

May have figured it out... The metal stripping that goes around the front glass was loose and looked like it could flap around... Put it back in place and snapped it in we shall see it this helps.. It can't be anything with the motor or trans/shafts.. It doesn't affect the driving or shifting.. Gotta be the problem keeping my fingers crossed may have to glue it down if snaps are worn..

It could be the strip something in the wind. Does not have the rhythm of drive train doesn't seem to tie into bumps in the road either.

I believe it was the trim around the glass.. Haven't heard a sound since! Thanks goodness it was simple considering I just dumped money into new brakes.. Brake lines... And rear wheel cylinders.. That was a mess and a pita!
