ok i have a 91 4.0 ranger with 35x12.50s, i have 4.56 gear ratio in the rear end and love the ratio i have excellent acceleration and decent top end and get about 17-18 mpg...although i still havent managed to put 4.56 in the front dana. when i have my other projects complete i plan to drop a 302 in the beast and put my 3.73 ratio back in the rear end... by that time i plan to be running 37x12.5s and never any bigger my question is should i be satisfied with the 3.73s in the rear running a 302..as in will i have acceleration along with a decent top end...and i do know as well it will depend on my transmission choice...i was thinking of using the old 80's model 4 speed with the granny low gear...possibly but not too sure any suggestions on that end of the spectrum. in advance thanks for the help this site has helped me make alot of decisons with the truck :icon_thumby:

Stick with the 4.56's.....

Not quite sure why you would want to go backwards here?

I have 4:56's with a 347 and want to go deeper (5:13's) I run a 35" BOGGER and I crawl a lot with mine. The 4:56's are O.K. but.....

Exactly, just because you have a V8 doesn't mean you don't need the gearing...

thanks for the help fellas simple questions recieve simple answers lmao
