Help on 4.0 swap !!

I have 2000 ranger 4.0 motor is shot found someone selling rebuilds but they have only 1986-88 3.0 and 1994-95 232 v/6 my question is this would I be able to switch the parts from my truck on to either one of these motors are they compatible also would computer work

Those 2 motors make no sense. Look a little harder.

The 3.0 engine was not offered until 1991

the 1986-87 2.9 engine has a displacement of 177ci

The 3.0 engine has a displacement if 183ci

The 4.0 engine displaces 245ci

The only engine I can think of that has a 232ci displacement is the 3.8liter V6

I think you are looking at 3.0 engines offered for the 86-88 Taurus and the 1994-95 Windstar
