I need your advice, I have a 1999 Ranger xlt 3.0 flex fuel auto trans. Drove it to work this morning everything was fine. Went to lunch and the truck has no power it takes forever to get up to 35 mph. Went home changed the air filter, cleaned the MAF with no results. I put new plugs and wires on about 6 months ago and it has been running fine until today. I know these engines don't make massive HP but something is wrong any help would be appreaciated.

Recheck your plugs and wires. Lack in power could be a variety of things. When you check your plugs are they white? Sounds like it could be starved for fuel as well. Check your filter. Also, sounds like timing could be off.

Is it misfiring? Stumbling? What are the symptoms?

The truck starts and runs fine at idle, when you step on the gas there is no power it takes the truck awhile to get up to 35 mph. I rechecked the plugs and wires everything is good. Transmission is not slipping just no get up and go, I know they are not known as power beasts but it never did it before. If I can not figure it out it is off to the shop. Thanks

Might be the MAF..... father in law's 3.0 would idle but couldn't even move under its own power without wanting to die. Try to disconnect the MAF to see if it changes.

Ok I unhooked the MAF and the truck diffently runs better and as expected the check engine light came on. My question is if the MAF is bad why did it not set off the check engine light before I unhooked it?

I can't tell you why it did not set a cel but I've seen it happen on more than one occasion.

Thanks everyone. I cleaned and tested the MAF, the truck runs so much better and it actually has power to get out of it's own way. Thanks again.
