Hey does anyone know what kind of sockets are needed to seperate the u-joint flange on the driveshaft from the transfer case flange on a 1999 ranger 4x4? They look funny and I don't know what they are. Specialty bolts of some kind, have lots of small points. Help please, I am about to remove the case and need to know what tools I need before stores close.

yea, they can look weird if you have never seen a 12 point bolt before. ONLY use a 12 point 12 mm socket on these, do not try and use a 6 point on them. Oh and a hint, a 12mm box wrench will be 12 point, but of course they don't normally ratchet.

Thanks guys, i ended up figuring it out. They did look funny there for a sec. I did use the 12 point socket too, so no strippage.
