Ok so for black friday i decided to give my truck and i a need head unit.. so i installed it correctly but when i was digging in i saw a bunch of cables from the old setup they had in the truck and they just left it all tangled up, a real mess. so i accidentally pulled a cable and my radio stopped working so i thought i blew it but i went and got it replaced for a new one but its still not working.. im guessing its some power cable i pulled.. but i found this....

help needed figuring out what the hell is this.

im not sure if its stock from the radio but im guessing its not and the red cable is the one i pulled and ripped.. :shok:

does anyone know what that is and what i could do to fix this.. i try and post more pics as soon as i can..

you could probably just disconnect it... it looks like a box that you plug the radio wire into and it allows you to add an amp or CD changer.

Or atleast thats my guess

It is what it says. An FM modulator that is normally used for aftermarket CD changers that use blank FM channels and Satellite radio. It just installs inline on your antenna so it should have almost no effect of how the radio works as long as it's plugged in.

There ya go! LOL

If you can't find the power cable you can always run one straight to the battery. I would suggest that anyway with some 8 gauge power wire most head units suggest that you do this. You still need to find the power wire you tore so you don't have a live wire floppin around and sparking possibly frying your system or causing a fire.

i will check up on it asap tomorrow morning cause i fear the same thing gettle03, i do not want a fire in my truck.. haha

ok so i took out all the unnecessary wiring and the modulator and i realized the cable i pulled was the ignition fuse cable from the car. so i tried connecting it but i didnt get any positive results, i tried connecting directly with the ignition cable connecting with the deck and i still didn't get any power.. the only thing is that the deck makes a noise like if it was loading a cd. but thats it.

sure ur not confusing the power wire with the memory wire?

nope. it even says it in the wire, "ignition fuse". And its the only loose wire. So i am having a little bit of a hard time with it.

what color is it?

i think ull need a voltmeter or light tester to check if ur getting voltage to the ignition/accsesories wire and the 12v memory wire.

i meant test light

easier to use and cheapier than a voltmeter

pictures of your current wiring would help out a lot
