Help me!!! My Truck is choking?!?!

So I have a 94 2wd 4.0 ranger 5spd. Recently my clutch, slave, and fly wheel where replaced and everything shifts fine. BUT.... after everything got installed I went for a test drive and I have problems. After I put it in gear (again it shifts great) I push the gas to accelerate and the truck kinda chokes.... and sputters before taking off. This happens every time I push in the gas in every gear. The harder I push the gas the worse it gets. The tranny is not slipping, it just seems that I have no power. I put it into 4th gear and it just had no guts what so ever. This has never been a problem before the clutch replacement. Everything seems to be hooked up correctly... I'm so exhausted, due to the fact that I am no mechanic and can not find whats wrong. Any suggestions??????

You didn't get the O2 sensor wiring caught in between the bell and engine did you?

I just checked and nope. But the wires and sensors on the tranny are very dirty. The problem is that my neighbor did the work and he didn't clean anything. He resealed the main seal and replaced the mentioned parts. So next time I will do all work myself! Do you think that it could be a bad 02 sensor or the wires and or other sensors? I had an idea that maybe the fuel filter might have coincidentally went bad... What do you think?

It many be the O2 sensor itself. I'm had them crap out from being disrupted during clutch jobs. They are pretty much supposed to be replaced every 100K miles anyway.

Fuel filter or fuel pumps may be at fault. Filters are cheap. Replace the filter and see if that helps any. If not, I'd check the fuel pressure before anything else.

I installed a new fuel filter and it didn't help. I found a plug with purple and orange wires that hanging loose on the back of the engine going down to the tranny and o2 sensor, but i dont know where it hooks up if it does at all.

I seen smoke coming from the o2 sensor as well. Also when im standing over the engine i can hear a deep exhaust sound.... like a leak when i push the throttle. It sounds like its coming from underneath. Sorry for the lack of knowledge on my part but I'm trying. I'm learning as we go. NONE of this was happening before. When i push the gas all the way to the floor its just doesn't want to go anywhere. Would an o2 sensor cause all of this?

pics of the connector would be helpful. While I could probably figure it out if I spent enough time with the wire diagrams, they just aren't as good a read as my current book.

Seeing the connector makes it much faster to figure out.

An oxygen sensor could cause this. Hard to tell for sure, a bad sensor should be throwing codes and lighting up lights.

I'm not getting a check engine light. But I'll take it down to have the codes checked anyways tomorrow. I'll also get a pic on here as well. Thanks for staying interested I'll get back to you asap.
