Got this off a 2003 Explorer at the pick and pull. I took it in to test it and the guy told me it must be from an 04, but something was wrong and he couldn't test it. I'm just wondering what the hell it cam from if it wasn't the original alt from the 03. Any help? I just need to know what it's from so I can have it tested...

I must be missing something....

:worthless:

Pics??? Numbers???? Can you give us anything???

Opps, sorry. Photos were too big...

I'm almost positive that it is the 130 alternator, but unless I know what the exact model is I can't have it tested. I guess I could put it in my truck and measure the output with a multimeter?

05 sporttrac with a 4.6 should work for ya its an 130amp carquest alt from advanced auto

Oh, is it? I was under the impression that Motorcraft was an O'Reilly brand

Its a 130 amp 3g alternator that was run in just about everything ford from about 93 to 03 or 04, dont understand why they need the model to test... all they are testing for is output and ripple

I'm not sure either, but I did finally get it tested. It failed miserably. Gotta go swap for another this weekend. Sucks though cause it looked so fresh and new...

You are kidding, right?

Motorcraft is Ford OEM. A lot of parts store parts come with Motorcraft stamped or cast in the housing because they were OEM parts that were rebuilt.

Anyway, that alternator could be from almost any 4.0 Ford ever made, OHV or OHC. There were a few odd-balls in the early years of the SOHC that didn't have that single plug, but other than that, no way to tell visually.

The 4.6 alternator is a no-go. Drastically different shape.

I'm definitely kidding. The alt turned out to be bunk anyway. Will be finding a new one... Lol, if Motorcraft quality were as cheap as O'Reilly I wouldn't be at the jy looking for used parts.
